Z-R Consulting's owner, Mr. Zlatan Racic has been established and providing full time services as an independent engineering consultant since 1999, as a preferred vendor for several power utilities, independent turbine-generator service shops, as well as for some OEMs. Mr. Racic originally graduated as a Marine Engineer in Croatia. He worked for a number of years as an engineer on merchant ships with steam and diesel propulsion, gaining extensive experience in marine diesel engine operation. In 1970, he came to the United States to work for Cummins Diesel Regional Service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1979, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

In the same year, he began a 20+ year career at Siemens, spending the majority of those years in the position of Manager, Vibration Analysis and Rotating Machinery Diagnostics, in the Product Service Division of Siemens Fossil Power Corporation (SFPC). In this capacity he was responsible for vibration and operation fact finding and troubleshooting of turbine-generator sets delivered and installed by SFPC and was manager of the High Speed Balancing Facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received an MBA degree from Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1990.

Mr. Racic has also spent many recent years in the research of rotordynamic phenomena of turbine-generators, and has written and published numerous technical papers on rotordynamics and vibration, and has given many presentations at conferences in the USA and abroad, including multiple presentations at IFToMM, ISCORMA, EPRI, Electric Power, Vibration Institute and MFPT, among others. He has been a member of the Vibration Institute for over 40 years. Mr. Racic in 2019 became an ASA/ANSI/ISO voting member to the working group for finalizing the ISO 21940-12 balancing standards, procedures and tolerances for rotors with flexible behavior.
