AFTER OUR ROTOR EVALUATION,
THERE ARE NO SURPRISES

Runout data provides a basis for rotor vibration analysis. Observed vibration is only a symptom indicating that something is wrong with the machine. For most problems in operation, something was already wrong when the rotor was back on the shop floor. This is the time to identify and correct problems.

An absolutely essential part of the rotor evaluation procedure at Z – R Consulting is to obtain and analyze thorough rotor runout data as the very first step.

Using our proprietary evaluation software, we identify any rotor faults at an early stage of the service process in the shop, allowing us to guide any necessary machining corrections ahead of shop balancing.

If our rotor evaluation procedure is included in your outage scope from the beginning, and our guidelines followed, we can guarantee you a smooth startup.
Probably 80% of rotors making their way to a service shop have
eccentricities outside of the guidelines given in ISO 1940. These generally
come in the form of shaft bows, off-square or eccentric couplings, or misaligned
journals, and if left ignored can create innumerable vibration problems in operation. Identifying these faults through runout data evaluation is key.

Out-of-tolerance couplings and journals must be corrected by machining. Rotor bows can often be resolved using our proprietary balancing method alone, which has been specifically developed for balancing distributed mass eccentricities.
